My Story- Brenda Johnson

Born and raised in New York to proud Puerto Rican parents, I carry both the rhythm of the island and the heartbeat of the city. My story is shaped by culture, resistance, and an unshakable love for mi gente — my people — Black, Brown, and Indigenous — who’ve always turned pain into power.

My platform is rooted in healing. Healing the wounds of racism, colonization, and generational trauma. Healing the divisions that were never ours to carry. I create spaces for truth-telling, emotional liberation, and spiritual restoration — spaces where mi gente can remember who we really are.

Because we are not very different — actually, we are not different at all. The atrocities of slavery, the bigotry, the racism — they touched all of us. But so does the strength. The resilience of my Taíno ancestors — the resilience of all our ancestors — lives in our blood. It flows through every step we take forward, every boundary we break, and every community we uplift.

This work is about unity. About standing in mutual respect, learning from one another, and refusing to let this nation divide us. I believe in us. I believe in mi gente / my people — in our joy, our magic, our survival, and our right to heal and thrive.

This is more than a platform — it’s a movement. It’s a home for truth, healing, and radical love.
For our ancestors. For our future. For mi gente. ✊🏽❤️🌿
